First: I would really like to share with you a soundtrack from the movie. The feelings and emotion in this piece convey the feelings of this comic so well. That calming nightime sound combined with innocence and that hint of sadness that all BLT's music has. You can try reading the comic along with it, it's really nice, too bad it's so short:

Also this is the song that plays on Pinky's radio at the end. : )

Behold, the most work I've ever put into a comic before in my life. I mean that with all honesty too, if I had had any idea how much work this would end up being I would never finished it out of intimidation. I recommend that you wait to read this comic until the moment is right. :) Wait till the evening, when the house is quite and calm, when the mood is just right. Just my suggestion.. ^^

It's 1964, Violet's only 4 years old and Pinky's still a young little thing at only 10 even though she's older in car-years. Poor little Violet has her dreams invaded by a nightmare bad enough to startle the little girl awake.

The funny little girl she is, Violet along with her faithful teddy-bear "Mr. Fluffles" venture outside her room, NOT to her easily accessible parents right down the hall, but out to the gravel driveway where Pinky sleeps. I think you'll quickly get the feeling this isn't the first time a scenario like this has played out between the two as Piny has to shake the grogginess away and comfort little girl fate's rested maternal dependance on, not that Pinky's complaining. ^.O

You know, it's too bad Violet's parents don't know about all the full-night's sleep Pinky's allowed them to have, the poor car deserves some repayment I think. :lol:

Atuhor's Nose: ====================

This is the first comic I've ever completely colored, with detailed human characters in it, and constant detailed backgrounds. Now before my IZ watchers get butt-hurt over the fact that OAPR never got a colored comic, don't be. I never would have made as many comics for it like I did if they were all colored.. I know that for a fact. Thank god Pinky's story only needs two of these.. maybe 2 1/2 if I do an epilogue.

For as much work as I put into this, it's kinda disturbing when I think about how practically unimportant this comic is as it doesn't forward the story at all. My reasoning behind making this is quite relevant though in the richness of the story I'm telling. You see, we're at the ending point in Pinky's story, where emotions run high and and you really feel the main she's going through. Or at least that's the goal, but to really understand what she's going through you have to see it.

This comic is a glimpse back to some of the happiest years of her life, it shows just what kind of relationship Pinky had with Violet as well as how they talked to each other (this is the first time I've had either of them speak!) I felt like even though what's going on is so small and insignificant to the larger story it still speaks wonders more about how it was back then then any of the single pictures I've drawn of the two of them so far. Besides, most of Pinky and Violet's time together WAS like this, very small insignificant things.. the kind of things a child's mind would care about. The way small things like having a nightmare become giant traumatic events to a little kid. Heck the life of a car isn't all that exciting, Pinky probably enjoyed all the wonderment.

Interesting notes and details:

:bulletpink: Firstly I want to address the fact that Violet is calling Pinky "momma." I decided to go with the reasoning that one of my watchers said, which is that Violet is too young to really grasp the significance of giving someone that title. That's how she's able to call Pinky mom even though she really isn't. :)

:bulletpink: A sad little detail, sometimes you can see behind Violet in the backyard is a tree. That's the tree Pinky is later parked under when she breaks down. :(

:bulletpink: You might notice a slight art style change between the first couple panels and the rest of the comic. This was because the first page was done a long time ago then the comic kinda just sat for a few months while I drew other pics. By the time I came back to it my style had changed and improved a bit. X3

:bulletpink: When Violet is describing the boogeyman in her nightmare, that is a pretty obvious reference to the movie. That being the scary-as-fuck fireman clown from Toaster's nightmare which haunted many kids who saw the movie. If Violet saw him in her nightmare it's no wonder she got so scared: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEdZh8…

:bulletpink: I was really into consistency with this. I not only wanted to show character relations but make the setting more real as well. I really enjoyed finally showing some inside views of the house, Violet's room was especially fun. If you notice, in the kitchen you'll see the blender and toaster-oven asleep. These are 2 of the appliances seen comforting Pinky years later in this picture: fav.me/d4120wu It was actually kinda crazy ass I was drawing the inside of the house because thinking about in the world of the movie a LOT of things in those scenes are alive. XD The ceiling fan and alarm clock in the parent's room, the appliances in the kitchen, heck even the freaking flower in the window based on what the movie showed.

With that in mind, I must confess that I can't help but feel a little bit uneasy about Mr. Fluffles. The fact that so many things are alive but he never shows any evidence of life even though he probably is too.. it's kinda creepy.. like he's hiding something. XD Though it could be the fact that he's based off of Safe Seth from the Flashtub videos as well
I spent most of my time drawing and coloring listening to emotional songs either about parents and/or death. You might enjoy some of them so I'll leave the links, they're beautiful songs:
