Farewell Pinky - PART 5

Description

Welcome one and all to part 5. Forgive the somewhat lack of color in this page. I'm not sure if it's just me getting fatigued, but I sorta felt like the slowness of releases is sorta making the plot of the comic drag somewhat. Part 6 is the final part and it's extra long, so I decided to save my effort for the last part. :)

So we found out what idea Pinky got with how to communicate, I remember some of you guessed radio, close but no cigar. Turns out Pinky, putting as much strength and willpower as she could into it managed to squeeze a couple seconds worth of headlight beams out of her old leaking, corroded battery before it finally shorted out, she might be lucky that didn't kill her!

Some of my favorite expressions from Violet come out of this page, I particularly love her stunned 'what the?' face towards the top.. it's just so different looking then anything else in the comic. Here's a fun fact, I was having such a hard time with Violets leaning on Pinky pose, the panels that are colored, that I actually had my mom do that pose against the couch and took a picture of her for me to use as photo-reference. XD It still looks a bit off but it works..

It sure is nice to see things finally getting a little happier isn't it? I think we can all agree, Pinky sure deserves whatever happiness she can squeeze out of this moment. Even if Violet can't nessessarily hear her, I'm sure it still feels wonderful to Pinky just to be able to say those things to her.. maybe Violet can at least feel it from her..

I must admit, this page originally had a lot bigger weight to it. It actually once contained a scene that I'd been waiting to put in the comic since the very beginning days of my Pinky story, because I've had this ending comic in my head since about the beginning as well! During the mid-section of this page where Violet and Pinky are looking through the old photographs. There was supposed to be a song segment where Pinky sung a song to Violet even though she can't hear it, using the pictures see sees from the photo album to form the lyrics. The song she'd be singing is a song I've associated with Pinky and Violet ever since I chose Lee Ann Womack to be Pinky's 'voice.' That song is her hit "I hope you dance." To me it just fits the story perfectly, that Pinky is wishing Violet all the best in the world and is trying to give her motherly wisdom and guidance before she goes. The main reason I didn't go back and put this scene in the comic is sorta from experience, I kinda got the hint from my previous comics that hardly no one actually listens to the songs I attach to my pictures : ( so it kinda felt like a waste of effort. If I'm actually wrong about that and people request it.. I'd be happy to go back later and add the scene back in. <: ] Anyway for now, even without the scene, go ahead and give the song a listen. It'll surely get you in the emotional mindset! ---> [link] <----

Also for those of my friends who I know hate country, there's a rock version here, to me it's not as emotional sounding but at least you can tolerate it. =P (( [link] ))

In my old version of this entire comic..which did play out differently, I had parts play out in my mind. Like that the male voice in the song that butts in saying "time is a wheel in constant motion always moving us along-" was the 'modern' stereo of the Camaro, him playing it to butt in and be an asshole. The lyrics 'Pinky' says "don't let some hell-bent heart leave you bitter" she'd look over her 'shoulder' at the Camaro while saying it, using him as an example. The Camaro would then shoot her a irritated glare. ^_^; Lastly, the ending of the song, the long drawn out instrumentals, I think matches the sad tone of a scene of Pinky being towed away from the house, looking at her family for the last time perfectly! The whole song has a very 'deadbed/goodbye/ending' feeling to it doesn't it?

Sorry to spend so much time on the song, but it WAS a big part of this entire comic for the longest time and it hurts to leave it out... anyway moving on...

Another interesting tid-bit is my further quest for accuracy. That is a real design for a 1980s era big bulky instant camera. The real name of its the Polaroid Impulse 600, [link] I did the copyright trick and switched up the name to Polarex Imploid. XD If it's not very clear, the reason there's an extra picture is because of Violet trying to hold the big heavy thing with one hand and feel around for the button, Violet's eyes are closed in one of the photos because it caught her in mid blink. ;)

In the next issue, prepare to see what's become of Pinky's interior after being open to the elements for a year.. o_o;

*gasps* If the comic alone didn't make me start bawling, I made the mistake of reading it, AND listening to "I Hope You Dance" at the same time! I'm actualy crying typing this comment right now so forgiv the couple of misspells due to my shaking hands :'(
